PhD deadlines for the winter semester 2026/2027
Submission of the dissertation with documents: September 14 to 18, 2026
Preparation of the first report: by November 13, 2026
Preparation of the second opinion: by December 25, 2026
Circulation to the oral examiners and display: Dec. 28 to Jan. 08, 2027
Oral examinations (economics only): January 11 to 22, 2027
Final doctoral consultation: Wednesday, January 27, 2027, 1:30 p.m.
A special permit for doctoral studies is required if the university degree is “foreign” or from abroad (roughly speaking: everything except M.Sc. in business administration or economics). It must be submitted by the time the dissertation is submitted at the latest.
The doctoral committee decides on the applications at its meetings at least once every semester (see “Doctoral deadlines”).
The submission deadline for complete applications (incl. copy of certificates and CV) is two weeks before the committee meeting/Promotionsabschlussberatung at the latest.
Please submit original applications for business studies (BWL) directly to the secretariat of the doctoral committee, Ludwigstr. 28 VG/EG, room 04.

Please note that the use of the university logo of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität is not permitted in the deposit copies to be submitted to the Dissertation Office of the University Library.
