In eighty days to the new dean

13 Jul 2023

Joint walkout of the deans of business administration and economics. In two months, the new deans of both faculties will take office.

Yesterday evening, the Dean of the Department of Business Administration, Prof. Martin Spann and the Dean of the Department of Economics, Prof. Dr. Joachim Winter were bid farewell in the venerable setting of the Fresco Hall and with the participation of invited guests from both faculties. Every two years there is a change of deans of the two faculties.

During the farewell ceremony, speeches were given by representatives of VWL and by Prof. Thomas Hess and Marco van Baal, Managing Director of LMU Munich School of Management. In their speeches, they highlighted the deans' achievements and merits, thanked them for their commitment during their tenure, and presented them with gifts from the faculty's "Mittelbau" staff and the professorial staff.

The deans, in turn, thanked all staff members for their outstanding work and support.

This was followed by a casual reception with drinks and finger food, during which there was ample time for informal conversation and sharing of thoughts and wishes for the future.

The joint farewell celebration emphasized the close collaboration between the two faculties, which will need to be further developed in the future.

We wish both deans all the best for their "well-deserved dean's retirement" in exactly 79 days and look forward to the visions and innovative approaches of the next deans Prof. Christian Hofmann in Business Administration and Prof. Davide Cantoni in Economics.
