Philosophy of science in summer semester 2025 - ONLY written exam - NO lecture

24 Apr 2025

The lecture will no longer take place in person. Alternatively, lecture recordings from a previous semester will be provided for the exam.

The lecture ‘Philosophy of Science’ was last held in presence in the summer semester 2024. In the following semesters, the slide sets from the last lecture held in class as well as texts for exam preparation will be made available for self-study. In addition, video recordings of previous lectures will be made available. The contents relevant to the examination are clearly determined by the slide sets. The video recordings are intended to help make this material tangible. The video recordings do not fully correspond to the slide sets; in the event of discrepancies, content or topics in the video recordings that are not included in the slide sets are not relevant to the exam.
Students can contribute learning questions and/or discussion suggestions to the course via a Moodle platform. These contributions are regularly answered and summarised or, if necessary, discussed in other suitable formats (audio files, videos, etc.).

Documents:
All documents and information for the Philosophy of Science lecture are available via the Moodle course ‘Wissenschaftstheorie 2025’ (Link: https://moodle.lmu.de/course/view.php?id=40713). You will find the enrolment key in the syllabus in LSF.

Format of the exam:

In consultation with Dr Mosburger (Mathematics section), I would like to pass on the following information about the format of the upcoming exams for the module ‘Analytik und Logik für Studierende der Wirtschaftswissenschaften’.

  • Both parts of the module - ‘Mathematics’ and ‘Philosophy of Science’ - are set in multiple choice format (‘0-1-3-5’)
  • The grade for the module exam is therefore calculated based on the total number of points achieved in both parts of the exam
  • Both parts of the exam are equally weighted and each consist of 6 tasks with 5 points each, so that a total of 30+30=60 points can be achieved
  • Compared to the last exams, the scope of the exam has been reduced (from 70 to 60 points); accordingly, you will have more time to answer the questions
