On Wednesday evening, the inaugural lectures of Prof. Dr. Helene Tenzer and Prof. Dr. Stefan Feuerriegel took place in the Frescensaal of the Faculty. The ceremonial event was well attended by many invited guests. Dean Prof. Dr. Martin Spann opened the event with introductory words, introducing the speakers and the topics of their lectures.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Feuerriegel, Head of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Management, delivered his lecture on the core question, "Human or AI: Who emerges as the winner?". The focus of his presentation was on the potential applications of machine learning, deep learning, data mining, and knowledge graphs in an industrial context. He demonstrated how scientifically grounded solutions could measurably support strategic objectives in corporate practice. He pitted a hypothetical team of machines against a team of humans, and at halftime, the machine team was leading. However, the human team, specifically the team from the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Management, emerged as the outstanding winner.

Prof. Dr. Helene Tenzer, Professor of International Management, delivered her lecture on the topic "Traveling Worldwide in Slippers? Challenges of Virtual Teams." She emphasized how global networking shapes our work life and vividly depicted the challenges that people face in communication during virtual collaboration across national, cultural, and linguistic boundaries in multinational companies. In conclusion, she provided an outlook on her research questions that address the intersections of international management, organizational behavior, and human resource management.

Following the two lively presentations, the Dean expressed his gratitude to the two professors and all attendees for their attention and interest. He emphasized the favorable conditions provided by the LMU Munich School of Management for their ongoing research work.

The inaugural lectures were a resounding success, with the research findings presented being impressive, and the discussions that followed during a get-together at the buffet were stimulating.
