In the elegant Frescensaal, Prof. Dr. Jelena Spanjol and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c.. Marko Sarstedt gave their inaugural lectures. The formal event was well attended.
On February 01, 2023, the inaugural lectures of Prof. Dr. Jelena Spanjol and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. took place in the Frescensaal of the Faculty. Marko Sarstedt took place. The festive event was well attended. The Dean Prof. Dr. Martin Spann opened the event with introductory words and presented the topics of the lectures.
Prof. Dr. Jelena Spanjol, Head of the Institute for Innovation Management gave her lecture on "The centrality of humanity in innovation management". After a brief introduction to the topic of innovation management and her research interests, she explained her research findings and methods and addressed the central role of human beings as decision makers and users of innovative techniques in healthcare management. In doing so, she emphasized the importance of considering the role of people in innovation processes, pursuing interdisciplinary approaches, and combining different methods to obtain meaningful results.
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c.. Marko Sarstedt gave his inaugural lecture on "Hitchhiking through the Galaxy of Multisensory Marketing." He vividly presented how he develops his scientifically based solution concepts for corporate practice and gave examples of how scientific knowledge in the interaction of several senses can measurably support corporate marketing. He explicitly addressed a fragrance experiment at Deutsche Bahn and used this example to explain the approaches he used and how he collected and analyzed his data.
Following the two lively presentations, the Dean thanked the two professors as well as all those present for their attention and interest, emphasizing that Munich School of Management offers them the ideal framework for their further research work. Prof. Dr. Jelena Spanjol and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Marko Sarstedt, for their part, thanked their families, co-workers and faculty for their support and that they are looking forward to advancing and expanding their research.
The inaugural lectures were a great success, the presented research results impressive and the discussions afterwards at a get together at the buffet interesting and stimulating.
