In Dec 2024, ISTO's Homecoming Event united alumni and current members for two days of presentations, discussions, and networking.
The event highlighted a diverse array of research within several key areas. In corporate strategy and organizational behavior, discussions focused on innovation in family firms, decision-making errors, help-giving in the workplace, and impatience in entrepreneurship. Research on market dynamics and competition examined issues like competition in gaming and subscription-based services, market structures in open-source software platforms, and the relationship between multimarket contact and environmental sustainability. Presentations addressing evaluation and governance delved into evaluator panel diversity, favoritism in grant applications, and the interplay between R&D and environmental disclosures. Lastly, work on emerging technologies explored the strategic and innovation implications of generative AI and the use of data in organizational design.
Presenters also provided insights into the role of non-compete contracts in venture capital investments, first-mover advantages in competitive environments, and the strategic choices shaping innovation ecosystems.
