Interview with Prof. Dr. Ivo Schedlinsky in Insights 2024!

In the latest issue of the faculty magazine Insights, Prof. Dr. Ivo Schedlinsky shares insights into his research and plans for the courses offered by his professorship in an interview with Rahild Neuburger.

The LMU Munich School of Management warmly welcomes Professor Schedlinsky, who took over the Chair of Managerial Accounting in the "Accounting & Taxation" cluster on October 1, 2024. Transitioning from the University of Bayreuth, he takes on his first professorship and looks forward to collaborating with colleagues and students alike.

Research Focus and Teaching Topics
Prof. Schedlinsky’s research centers on management control systems in organizations, particularly how incentives and controls influence employee behavior. His work relies on laboratory experiments to analyze the effects of these factors. He emphasizes the importance of practical collaborations in both teaching and research to optimally prepare students and address real-world challenges.

In his teaching, Prof. Schedlinsky plans to offer courses on cost management and practice-oriented seminars, enabling students to gain deep insights into corporate decision-making through case studies and hands-on projects.

Insights into His Motivation
What inspires his daily work is the freedom to pursue his research topics independently, the opportunity for scientific exchange, and the chance to equip students for professional success. Outside of work, Prof. Schedlinsky enjoys spending time with his family, sailing, skiing, and cycling.

A Message to Students
His advice to students is: "Stay curious!" He highlights the importance of not neglecting the social aspects of university life, as these not only enhance academic success but also make the study period more memorable.
