Prof. Dr. Thorsten Sellhorn will be awarded the ACA Prize in Financial Management 2026. The prize is awarded by the Institute of Accounting, Controlling and Auditing at the University of St.Gallen.

Prof. Dr. Thorsten Sellhorn has been awarded the ACA Prize in Financial Management 2026. The prize is awarded by the Institute of Accounting, Controlling and Auditing at the University of St.Gallen. The award recognizes outstanding academic achievements in the field of financial management.

International accounting and sustainability reporting

The jury honors Prof. Dr. Sellhorn for his significant contributions to empirical capital market research, international accounting, and sustainability reporting. His work has been published in renowned international journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science, and European Accounting Review.

Prof. Dr. Sellhorn began his academic career with a doctorate (2004) at Ruhr University Bochum. In 2008, he habilitated on the internationalization of accounting and was appointed to WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in the same year.

International research stays took him to the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Harvard Business School, the University of Arizona, and Boston University, among others. He has received numerous awards for his research and teaching and has also been funded for his work by the German Research Foundation, among others.

From 2019 to 2021, he served as president of the European Accounting Association, the largest European professional association in the field of accounting. He is also co-author of the standard textbook “International Accounting,” which will soon be published in its 12th edition.

The award ceremony will take place during the ACA Symposium on May 19 and 20, 2026, in Zurich.

About the award

The ACA Award in Financial Management is presented by the Institute of Accounting, Controlling and Auditing at the University of St.Gallen (ACA-HSG). It recognizes outstanding academic achievements in the fields of accounting, controlling, corporate finance, and auditing, and highlights research that is particularly relevant to issues of financial management in organizations. The prize will be awarded for the tenth time in 2026 and is one of the most highly endowed awards in the German-speaking world. The award ceremony is part of the annual ACA Symposium.
