The Munich Center for Linguistics and International Research Center for Multilingualism is organizing a panel discussion on 23.01.2025 on the topic “Language and Society. How migration is changing communication in the world of work”. The event will be moderated by Constanze Álvarez (BR24).

The evening and the discussion will focus on the question of how migration is changing our society and our language.

How do these changes affect communication in the world of work in concrete terms?
In a diverse, multilingual environment, employers and employees are facing new challenges, but also exciting opportunities.

How can language barriers be overcome and effective communication designed to facilitate work processes and strengthen cooperation?

Renowned experts from academia and practice will discuss these issues. Following a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Claudia Maria Riehl (Institute for German as a Foreign Language, LMU Munich), an interdisciplinary panel will provide insights into current research, practical solutions and inspiring real-life examples.
