Course description and structure

Course content

This seminar introduces students to current marketing topics and sharpens their evaluation skills as well as the skills needed to conduct research projects. Students not only conduct their research project in teams, but also document their results and present their findings.

Course structure

The seminar begins with a mandatory kick-off session in which we announce the organizational details (e.g., division of groups, topics, and supervisors) and introduce students to the principles of scientific work and writing. Students work in groups of two and meet regularly with their supervisors during the semester.

The seminar consists of two parts. In the first part, all students have to write a seminar paper with a maximum length of 22,200 characters (including spaces, without table of contents, bibliography and appendices), i.e. each team has to hand in a seminar paper with a maximum length of 44,400 characters. Please observe the Guidelines for scientific writing (PDF, 405 KB).This part of the seminar has a duration of nine weeks.

In the second part of the seminar, students have to prepare a detailed presentation of their research results. All students must give a 15-minute presentation (i.e. teams of two students = 30 minutes), followed by a question and answer session in the mandatory colloquium session.
