We hosted an engaging Research Day at LMU IES, initiated by Prof.Ali Gümüsay, which brought together researchers to share ongoing work and exchange ideas in a collaborative setting, with a focus on entrepreneurship, grand challenges and desirable futures.

On April 21st, 2026, we hosted an engaging Research Day at LMU Professorship for Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Sustainability (IES), initiated by Prof. Dr. Ali Aslan Gümüsay. The event brought together researchers to share ongoing work and exchange ideas in a collaborative setting, focused on entrepreneurship, grand challenges and desirable futures.

We were delighted to welcome two distinguished visiting scholars: Garima Sharma, Assistant Professor at American University Kogod School of Business, and Associate Editor at the Journal of Management Studies; and Laura Colombo, Senior Lecturer at the University of Exeter Business School and Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Learning & Education.

In the afternoon, four members of the IES group delivered presentations on their respective research topics:

  • Postdoctoral Researcher Monica Nadegger, who organized and coordinated the event, delivered a presentation titled "Organizing Futures Beyond Snow: Lost Ski Areas and Organizing Change in a Sunset Industry".
  • Doctoral Researcher Paul Vilchez shared his research titled "Tackling Grand Challenges & Imagining Desirable Futures: Perspectives from Indigenous Entrepreneurs in Puno".
  • Doctoral Researcher Jay Wang delivered a presentation titled "What Firms Bring with Them: Institutional Packages in Cross-System Encounters".
  • Doctoral Researcher Randhy Nugroho shared his research titled "On The Design Elements of Business Incubator Typology".

The presentations were followed by rich and insightful discussions, which yielded valuable feedback and helped refine the researchers’ ideas further. We warmly thank Garima and Laura for their valuable presence and thoughtful input throughout the event. The exchange created space for critical reflection across different topics, theoretical perspectives, and stages of research.

The IES Research Day is part of our ongoing effort to create an open and stimulating space for research exchange. We warmly welcome scholars and students with an interest in innovation, entrepreneurship & sustainability, grand challenges, and desirable futures to join our future events and conversations.
