General Information
Behavioral economics and behavioral finance typically incorporate cognitive and social factors in modeling economic decisions. These include decisions made by the buyers and sellers of insurance-related products. The nascent field of behavioral insurance attempts to explain many of the discrepancies between theories and observations within insurance markets.
The workshop is organized in order to further promote and enrich the discipline. It will give researchers the opportunity to present their work and exchange ideas on the topic. It will be hosted by the Munich Risk and Insurance Center (MRIC) at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany, and organized by Andreas Richter and Jörg Schiller. It will take place on December 12th and 13th 2011.
Submissions of abstracts and full papers are welcome. Selected papers from the workshop may be considered for a special symposium section, to appear in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, subject to peer review. This workshop is in cooperation with the Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR) at Georgia State University, which will host a workshop of its own in the spring of 2012 on the related topic of Behavioral Risk Management.
