Marco Meier is a research assistant in the DFG project „Wie aus Nutzern Ex-Nutzer werden: Schocks und Unzufriedenheit als Ursache für das Beenden der Nutzung einer Plattform und das Wechseln zu einem anderen Anbieter“ (project no. 437092197), which is affiliated with Prof. Dr. Christian Maier (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München).

He studied Information Systems (B.Sc.) at the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg and then moved to the Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg for the master’s program in Information Systems. During his master’s studies, he spent a semester abroad at the National Taipei University of Technology in Taiwan. In addition to his studies, he worked at DATEV eG for six years, first as a working student and then as a product manager. In 2022, he was a visiting researcher at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, for which he received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for International Research Visits for Computer Scientists (IFI). Since 2023, he has been funded by the Graduate Center for Doctoral Students of the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt).

Marco’s research focuses on the use of digital technologies in private (e.g., chatbots, video-on-demand services) and organizational contexts (e.g., telework, information security). His work has been published in journals including Communications of the Association for Information Systems and Internet Research and proceedings of conferences including ECIS, HICSS, AMCIS, and SIGMIS CPR. His research was, among others, awarded the Magid Igbaria Outstanding Conference Paper of the Year Award at SIGMIS CPR 2022 and nominated for the Claudio Ciborra Award at ECIS 2021. Among others, his work is funded by the Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation.
